Hann Portable Server is a desktop companion program originally developed for Hann File Transporter. It now also provides additional services for our other Windows Phone apps. For example, if you wish to use the backup/restore feature in NemoNote, you need to have Hann Portable Server running on your computer.

In order to make Hann Portable Server as easy and simple to use as possible, we have created it as a single executable. You don’t need to run installer or do complicated setup; simply download the latest version and run the executable.

1. Select a home folder

When you launch Hann Portable Server, you first need to select a folder that will be accessible from Hann File Transporter. Only the selected folder and its subfolders will be available for accessing.

2. Start

Clicking “Start” button activates the server; Hann File Transporter can then access the selected folder and transfer files.

If you wish to start the server as soon as Hann Portable Server is launched, enable “Activate server on program startup” option.

COMMAND LINE SWITCHES

Hann Portable Server accepts a folder path and “/start” command-line switch. For example, if you wish to set initial folder path to “D:\Public”, create a shortcut to Hann Portable Server executable and add “D:\Public” to its target setting.

If you wish to start the server when you launch Hann Portable Server, use “/start” command-line switch.

HOW TO ALLOW ONLY LOCAL ACCESS VIA USB CONNECTION

If you have security concerns and wish to have Hann Portable Server accessible only when your phone is connected to desktop Zune program via USB, simply change the “Bind IP Address” option to “127.0.0.1“. And when you need to connect to Hann Portable Server, use your computer’s other address that’s listed on the option. For example, if the option lists “127.0.0.1” and “192.168.1.11”, select “127.0.0.1” for the option and when you need to connect to Hann Portable Server, use “192.168.1.11”.

Please note that while your phone is connected to desktop Zune program, you cannot play any media file or upload images from phone’s Pictures Hub in Hann File Transporter. However, you should be able to achieve much faster upload/download speed.
