Right Soft Key not working in WM 6.5

I am running a 6.5 Version of Windows Mobile. Everything works for me except the right soft key. It is popping up the same menu that the left soft key does. Thus, I can't change font size to soemthing I can actually read :(

Can you tell us the name of your device and the OS version?

Does [ Menu ] button work correctly (show different set of menus) while connected to a server?

For your information, Token2Shell/Mobile loads a second set of menus after connected to a server and reloads the main menu after disconnected. It's possible that such reloading mechanism is causing the problem with the OS version you're using.

If you're using one of those "custom" ROM images that have "OK" button on the bottom menubar, please be aware that it seems it's in somewhat of an experimental stage at best (= high possibility of bugs); trying out different user interfaces to just see how each style feels in real devices. So, there could be problems with existing applications such as Token2Shell/Mobile and we cannot make adjustments until Microsoft finalizes or officially releases about the changes.

As far as we know, there are no menubar issues in Token2Shell/Mobile with official 6.5 releases for various devices.

Anyhow, please do tell us more about your device and OS version, and we'll be more than happy to look into it and see if we can add workarounds or update Token2Shell/Mobile to resolve the issue.

Thank you.

This is an AT&T FUZE running a 6.5 from from XDA Developers.

This is what the screen looks like when token2hsell opens:

When clicking either menu on the bottom you get this same pop up menu:

To answer your initial question, the buttons DO work correctly when connected.

I am also adding that with all due respect, I have installed 9 programs and token2shell is the only on with this odd menu problem.

To answer your initial question, the buttons DO work correctly when connected.

The main difference between the two menus is that the main menu has a sub popup menu when you tap [left] soft key.

Have you seen an application on your device that has a popup menu on both of the soft keys? If it's indeed a bug in OS, such application would also have the same problem. (We tried to look for an application that has a popup menu on both keys, but strangely enough, we couldn’t find one...)

If our observation is correct, the problem is caused by the OS; failed to process soft key events if it has popup menus on both of its keys. Anyhow, we'll keep looking into it.

Thank you very much again for the screenshots and feedback!

Thanks for looking at this.

FYI, Resco explorer, CorePlayer, Resco picture viewer and SPB Backup all have dual soft buttons and all work properly.

Actually, we did check those applications and they were using only "one" of the two soft keys for displaying sub-menus.

Does your OS version include Word Mobile? If it does, please try creating a new document and see if each soft key correctly displays sub-menus. For left "View" soft key, it should display "Toolbar", "Wrap to Window" and "Zoom" sub-menus. For right "Menu" soft key, it should have "Undo", "Redo" and etc. sub-menus.

Do you have a solution of this issue?, It's impossible to change the options related to this menu with this problem, the right softkey call the same menu as the left one. I have been trying the last version (v5.4.0) and my phone's ROM is official Omnia II from Samsung with OS WM6.5.3 (build 23103.5.3.3).

Judging from the screenshots, you are using "custom" theme that changes the softkey bar. As far as we know, Microsoft never released official tools to customize that area. So, in order to change that keybar, your theme maker probably had to hack into the OS. Please contact your theme maker and report about the problem. Token2Shell/Mobile is probably not the only one having such problem.

Also, judging from your screenshots, the version of Token2Shell/Mobile you've installed on your device is not the official version released by us. It seems to be one of the hacked/pirated versions that are floating around the Internet. Such version is modified to circumvent our licensing mechanism BUT since the cracker does not have any access to the original source code, they have no idea what they are really changing and what effects it might have on other parts of the software. In some cases, they repackage the software with malicious programs and viruses to attack your device. Please, for your own sake, use only the official versions released by the original developers.

It seems to be an incompatibility with Windows Phone 6.5.X, the SDK in this series has some changes in softkeys regard to 6.5 version.
By the way, I have tested the official Windows Phone themes and a fresh installation of the last version downloaded from here, but the problem persist.

Thanks anyway.

Thanks again for the feedback. We haven't yet had a chance to work with an official release version of 6.5.3. However, since the routines and resources used for creating softkey menubar in Token2Shell/Mobile "faithfully" follow the guidelines set by Microsoft, it shouldn't cause any problem on the new OS.

We did notice the softkey issue with some custom 6.5.3 ROM's, but we didn't think much of it since it was based on a beta version and other software from different companies suffered the same problem.

Anyhow, we'll look into it more thoroughly and see if it can be resolved from our end.

Thank you so much!, the new version (5.5) really solves the softkey issue.

JPM

I just tried Word Mobile.

After creating a new doc I get a "View" button on the left and a "Menu" button on the right.

When I tap view I get Toolbar, wrap to window and zoom.

when I tap menu I get a much longer list with undo, redo, cut, copy, paste, edit, format, tools, file, about.

So it does appear that both sub menus work.
